Product Review: NYX Right Round Lipsticks

I wasn't really a make-up fan or anything; I actually used to hate it.
I even told my dad that I would NEVER use make-up (except on important occasions). Dad told me I'd have to learn how to use and enjoy it at some point in my life, but I rejected that idea. Now, at 18 years old, I think I'm gradually being able to understand what he meant.

Since I am an artist by heart, I'm definitely a huge fan of colors. In fact, I now find it hard to answer the "What's your favorite color" question. As a kid, I used to always answer with "purple", but now it's as if I'd like to say "everything. all the colors." I had a similar feeling when I first tried applying make-up on myself. It's the colors that basically made me want to give it a shot. The first thing I tried? LIPSTICK.

I've already posted my first Lipstick Review HERE, but recently I've tried reading other make-up blogs to at least learn how I should "roll" in the field and I think I missed out on some details. So now here it is:

NYX Right Round Lipstick bagged an award on the Beauty Awards! :D

DESCRIPTION
"NYX Round Lipstick is our classic lipstick for all-year round. The mineral-based emollient formula offers a beautiful velvet texture, saturated color and it resists wear and smudging. It’s your go-to lipstick. From Pure Nude to Pink Lyric to Chic Red, Round Lipstick is available in a jaw-dropping 144 shades." (NYX Cosmetics Team)

PRICE and AMOUNT
Net wt. is 4 g./0.14 oz. This retails for $4.00 at the NYX Cosmetics website. Locally, I was able to get mine from Pandora's Boxes, which sells them at a retail price of P200 (Now, the shop has a promo wherein you can get 3 lipsticks for just P400).

PACKAGING
The packaging is simple; just a black plastic tube with that little elegant white accent for the label. However, it has something that most lipsticks don't -- that transparent bottom through which you can see the actual shade of the lipstick. Have you ever experienced opening almost all the lipstick tubes at the mall, just trying to find the shade you want? Well, NYX lipsticks will save you from that.

INGREDIENTS
Bees Wax, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Ceresin, Microcrystalline Wax, Polyethylene, Octyldodeanol, Polyisobutene, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Diisostearyl Malate, Polyglyceryl -2 Triisostearate, Isostearyl Isostearate, Bis-Digylceryl Polyacyladipade-2, Tocopheryl Acetate, B.H.A, Fragrance, Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxide Red, Iron Oxide Yellow, Iron Oxide Black, D&C Red No.6, D&C Red No.7, D&C Red No.27, FD&C Yellow No.5 Aluminum Lake, FD&C Blue No.1 Aluminum Lake, and D&C Red No.36 MAY CONTAIN: Mica (CI 77019), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxide Red (CI 77491), Iron Oxide Yellow (CI 77492), Iron Oxide Black (CI 77499), D&C Red No.6 (CI 15850), FD&C Blue No.1 Aluminum Lake (CI 42090), D&C Red No.7 (CI 15850), D&C Red No.27 (CI 45410:1), or FD&C Yellow No.5 Aluminum Lake (CI 19140).

OTHER THOUGHTS
With 144 shades to choose from, you really can't ask for more. Whatever shade you need for whatever occasion -- whether you're after Bloody Red Lips for a fierce party look (try NYX Elektra) or just a Nice & Cute Barbie vibe for everyday flaunting (try NYX Fig) -- NYX has it for you. The lippies have a faint vanilla scent which matches well with their creaminess. Also, they not only have a wide range of colors and shades but a wide range of textures, too! Some goes glossy (like the NYX Frappucino), others go satin-like or matte-like (like the NYX Fig), and others appear like glazeware gloss (like the NYX Goddess). These are just the three shades and textures I've used, but I believe there are more textures to choose from.

However, the lipsticks (from this collection, at least) are too soft that they easily melt or break. The colors are also a bit tricky; some of the shades seem to vary when you look at their color indicator at the tube's bottom, but on actual wearing they appear almost the same and it could get really confusing. Still, I can say this is not bad for a 200-peso-lippie. The color stays for a good 3-4 hours, and feels moisturizing with the creamy, velvety texture. For me, it's just fair enough.
