Lens Review: Crystal Color Lens in Amethyst Grey

Hello there, sweeties!

It's been a while since I've last published a decent blog post here, and even more so, a product review. I've been really loaded these past few weeks, what with academic requirements, church duties, helping out dad with his projects, assisting my uncle in his new baking & pastry business, and setting up my very own e-shop: Peu de Soleil (check it out! :D).

Soooo yeah, talk about backlog. I have lots of photos yet to be posted and writings yet to be made. One of those overdue articles, is this review. I've received the lens package last October 13 and planned to publish a review seven days after trying it out, but lots of stuff came in my way so I had to delay. I think it's a good thing, though. At least I've already worn the lenses for more or less three weeks, and that gives me more information, yes? So let's head on to the review, shall we? :D

Well, before anything else, I got this Crystal Lens pair from Pandora's Boxes. A pair retails at P450 for Plano or Non-graded pairs, and P500 for Graded ones. The lenses have a shelf life of three years, and  with proper care, may last up to 1 year upon opening. Great deal, right? I see most lenses of the same quality being sold at P600-P1,000 on other e-shops and eye clinics.

THE PACKAGE

This is just really cute. I can't even. Aaaaack! Kawaii :3

Just as always, the package consists of 2 vials of lenses, a lens case, and a manual. 

THE LENS

The vials have the details clearly indicated: the design and grade are written on the cap, while the base curve, lens diameter, and other details are written on the vial's label (which, clearly, I have forgotten to take a photo of. Sorry :/).

THE VERDICT

COLOR/DESIGN: ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿

I really love the color grey, especially when it comes to contact lenses. It just looks so classy and sophisticated, plus it accentuates the eyes without going over-the-top (like with red or aqua blue). These lenses are not excluded from that. The design also adds to the sophistication and class, see:

The flourish accents reminds me of princesses and castles. Too bad that doesn't show much when worn. However, the dark and adequately thick outline kinda makes up for it. The outline emphasizes the eyes enough for a doll-eye look, yet not alien-y. I give this pair 3 ✿s for color and design. Not too impressive a design, but the color and the over-all effect still come out nicely.

ENLARGEMENT: ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿

With a 15.0mm diameter, the lens enlarges the eyes enough for just a cute, doll-eye effect without looking like you came from Mars. Perfect for Ulzzang, Gyaru, or just everyday look. I absolutely love it.

COMFORT: ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿

If there's something I like most about these pair of lens, it is its superb comfort. This is already my third pair from Pandora's Boxes, and they never fail to give my eyes the safety and comfort that they need. It's been a quarter of a year already since I last worn contact lens, but I had no problem wearing these new ones even for the first time. It dries up a little after 4 hours of wearing, but I get to wear it for 6 hours with the help of some eye drops. 

OVER-ALL RATING: ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿
I totally recommend this for those of you who are opting for graded lens in alternate use with eyeglasses (that's what I do. hihi). As I've mentioned earlier, it's accentuating in a way that's not too disturbing to look at; and still somehow natural-looking.

REVIEW: Born Pretty Store Acrylic Colour Set

They shipped this 12-Color Nail Acrylic Paint Set out to me last April 26, and they told me that it would reach me after 2-4 weeks. I was able to get the package by May 15 (that's roughly 3 weeks after BPS shipped it out), although the slip from the Central Post Office tells me that it arrived there on May 10 (that's 2 weeks after!). So yes, I could say that they are prompt when it comes to shipping. I'm used to waiting for two weeks (or more) for international deliveries, but this one has been the fastest international transaction I had so far. 


Moving on to the review, let me show you some more photos first. :)

NOTW: ColorTrends in Spotted!

Just this afternoon, I found some cheap items at the mall while I was chillin' out (read more HERE), and one of those items is this ColorTrends Nail Polish in Spotted!. Judging by the bottle, I was expecting it was the same shade as Caronia's On The Go, but when I actually wore it, it wasn't. But still, I kinda like how it turned out. It still has that summer-ish, beachy vibes that I want. Maybe it's the seafoam green shade that makes it feel like the beach.

SHORT REVIEW:

WHAT I LIKE

• Easy application. It goes over smoothly in thin layers, hence making it dry quicker.
• Pretty pigmented. It goes opaque in two coats, though I make three coats to make sure it doesn't wear off easily.
• REALLY AFFORDABLE! For just P18, you could buy a whole lot of different shades!

WHAT I DON'T LIKE

• It doesn't have a list of ingredients/chemicals at the back. I always look for those. (but I saw it came from the makers of Chic, so I still bought it)
• Few choices of colors. Well, I don't know if they just have a really small variety of colors, or Mercury Drug just doesn't stock enough.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

The pigment is nice, easy application, and really affordable. I've used two polishes from this brand already, and so far, they're safe for my nails. I would definitely repurchase.

MY THOUGHTS

I've already been using Pixlr-o-matic even before I had an android. I'm a great fan of vintage and retro-themed stuff since who-knows-when, so I was really thrilled when I found out about Pixlr-o-matic. When I got an android phone last September 2011, I was even more thrilled to see that Pixlr-o-matic has an android version, too! Now I can edit my photos anytime, anywhere, instantly! Here are some screencaps I took:

PHOTO EFFECTS

There are a number of presets available, most of them are grungy, vintage, and retro. Aside from these, you can also download additional effects if you like. However, I think the presets initially available are already adequate ;)

for this one, I chose "Anne"

OVERLAYS

The second step is to add overlays such as bocea, fog effect, glitters, chemical burn effect, stars, and many others.

For this one, I chose glitter.

FRAMES/BORDERS

Third and last step is to add a frame. Choose from basic borders to grungy, dirt, Polaroid, and a lot more.

SAVE

Easy as that, save your photo in the size you like.

I don't usually use the second and last step. I'm just really after the vintage filters and effects. It's pretty much enough already. However, you cannot adjust the tones, hues, and brightness of your photo here. So usually I still use PhotoWonder prior to using this one.

I give this app four stars

MY THOUGHTS

PhotoWonder is one of  the first photo-editing apps I've downloaded on my android phone (Samsung Galaxy Mini). Most of the first apps I tried, I deleted already because I wasn't satisfied. PhotoWonder is one of the very few photo apps that stayed in my phone up until now. I love how it practically has everything I want for my basic photo-editing needs. In this review, I'll show you all the basic editing you could do with PhotoWonder in a step-by-step photo set.

EDIT

 Here, you can apply vignette effect, rotate, crop, adjust brightness,

adjust contrast, and sharpen your image.

Here, I already tweaked the Brightness and Contrast of my photo.

 BEAUTIFY

In this option, you could do basic touch-ups such us Slimming, Larger Eye Effect, Anti-acne, Better Skin Effect, Fixing Red-eye, Whitening, and even Applying some Blush.

PHOTO EFFECTS

In this option, you can add more life and style to your photo by choosing from various photo effects such as Autumn, Blue Tone, Lomo, Time-Travel, Ocean, and a lot MORE. 

For this photo, I chose the Sweet Effect.

DECORATIONS

Here, you can add clip-arts and other cute icons on your photo.

Choose from hairbands, eyeglasses, fake mustaches, pre-set texts, balloons, lace frames, and a lot more.

I chose that cute bow-hairband under "Decorations"

I got that cute pair of wings under "Pranks"

They only have pre-set texts such as that cute "Smile" word art above.
It could have been better though if they could allow custom text.
