Nails: New Year Blackout

HELLO and HAPPY NEW YEAR, SWEETIES!

Sooo, how're your first few days of 2013 going? I'm sure you're filled with fresh hopes, goals, wishes, joy, and a burst of color and sparkles for the entire year ahead. Yep, because that's exactly the same thing for me! ;) Well, speaking of color and sparkles, I'm absolutely thrilled to share with you my first nail art for the year...

NEW YEAR BLACKOUT!

I made this simple nail art two evenings before 2013 came in. It's been a while since I last did my nails because I've been practicing to play the guitar again, hence I couldn't keep long nails. I had to come up with a nail design for short nails, and here it is! I just thought it's the perfect thing for my nails to welcome the new year, don't you think? :) Here's how I did it:

STEP 1:
I painted my nails with three different sparkle colors, all from CARONIA (the purple glitter is Trance, the metallic blue is Sapphire, and the silver one is Silver Platinum).  For my index and middle fingers, I topped them off with the Caress Disco nail polish topper I used here.

STEP 2:
If I had some striping tape, I would use it, but I don't. So I used masking tape instead. I randomly striped and covered the areas from which I wanted the color to appear, and then...

STEP 3:
I topped my nails with Caronia Black Velvet. After making sure I've covered the entire nail, I carefully took off the masking tape stripes I made.

Aaaaand... TADAAAH!

It's still a bit of a mess, but I'm quite happy with it already. It's my first time to do a blackout, anyway. Oh, and I can just imagine how great those fingernails would look on and with my guitar. :>

Btw here's a photo of my favorite blacked-out nail. :>

Do you like it, sweeties? I hope you can try it out, too! Don't forget to share it with us if you do!

Love lots,

NOTW: Carolina Peach

Just recently, I've joined another Caronia promo again, and whaddayaknow, I won... again! I just reeeally love Caronia because it's affordable, it has an ultra wide range of colors, and they always have something fun and exciting for their fans. So whenever I join their promos, I don't really intend on winning. It's just me showing my support for my favorite local nail polish brand. Winning is just a huge bonus. ;)

Here's an instagram photo of the gift pack I won. It includes a cosmetic pouch, Kwik-dry & Cuticle Conditioner, Solvent, Nail Polish remover, Fast-dry Top Coat, Cuticle remover, Cuticle Sanitizer, and 6 nail polish bottles (Platinum, First Crush, Orange Pop, Crystal, Carolina Peach, and Diva).

I'll be making a separate post with swatches for all six colors, but for now let me just show you my new favorite, Carolina Peach. :)

When I opened the gift pack, I was so excited for the nail polish set included, but my ecstasy went down when I saw that most of them were frosted. I'm not really the type who would always wanna sport frosted nails (especially uber bright ones like Orange Pop). The only regular/unfrosted nail polishes were Carolina Peach and First Crush. I already saw how First Crush looks from Momo's nails, so I picked out the rosy brown one.

I LOVE IT!!!
It looks really classy and sophisticated. I felt so lady-like! When you wanna paint your nails but don't wanna go too loud, this is the perfect shade for you. Not too overwhelming a color, but not dull either.

Alors, I think that's all to this post. I'll post the complete swatches soon.
Toodles!

Teaser: LEOPARDIZED

After a long while, I finally had the adequate time and the perfect mood to paint some nail art again. A friend is requesting for me to paint leopard prints on her nails. I have never tried doing leopard before, so I practiced on my own nails first. Realized it was easier than I thought!

I'll be posting an EASY PHOTO TUTORIAL for this (when I have more time to splurge), so I hope you wait for it, read it, try it, and share with me a photo of your leopard nails, too! I'll be preparing a prize for the best one. ;)

That's all for now.
Hope you like it, 'cause I do. A lot! Hehe :D

Share me your thoughts!

NOTW: Purple Disco

Bonsoir!
After quite some time of being MIA, I'm back with a Nail post! It's just a simple nail design, though. I still don't have enough time and inspiration to design some detailed nail art. Well, I've made a French-themed nail design on Momo (Charmed)'s nails last week, but she wasn't able to post a photo of it. I painted her nails while we were at our org tambayan and I unfortunately didn't have my top coat with me, so I just asked her to apply some on her own when she gets home. Apparently, she forgot. :(
But don't worry, I'll be recreating it and'll post it together with a tutorial. ;)

Now on to my NOTW! Forgive the title, I really can't think of a creative one. I just used Purple Disco because it reminds me of disco lights whenever I look at it; and of course, it's purple (you don't say!). My guy best friend thinks of it as staple wires on my nails, though. O_O

The shine and disco lights factor don't show well in the photo, but I swear it looks really nice in person. I've been getting a lot of compliments for this (except nga from my guy best friend who said "Bakit ka may staple wires sa kuko?". O_O I still love him, though :P).

BASE COLOR: Orly Matte Polish in Purple Velvet

Here's the "Nail Polish Tandem" I used:

Orly Matte Polish in Purple Velvet
Caress Nail Polish in... Disco? (haha too lazy to stand, get the bottle, and check. XD)

I've just bought that Caress nail polish last week, and I'm lovin' it! For just Php 22.75 (~USD 0.50), you can pimp up any plain nail polish into an eye-catcher! Now who says you can only wear bling on your neck? ;)

Caronia Tropical Doll Collection

Hello, sweeties!

If you've been reading my blog lately, you would know that I was chosen as one of the winners in Caronia's May Promotion: Flores de Mayo-inspired nail design contest.

And yes, part of the prize package I got was this Caronia Tropical Doll Collection!
I have been eyeing for Kiwi ever since they published a teaser for the collection, but I dunno why I chose Blueberry to try out first. Here's a photo of my nails wearing Blueberry:

(sorry, I just took this photo a week after I actually applied the polish,
so you can see my nails growing out of the polish already)
Pretty, right? I really like how vibrant and so beachy it looked! And I just couldn't wait for another week, and another week, to be able to blog about Tangerine and Blueberry, so I asked my blogger friends Momo and Aimee of Charmed if I could use their nails as "canvas" for the rest of my Tropical Doll polishes. They gladly agreed! :)

Aimee for Kiwi, Me for Blueberry, and Momo for Tangerine

I just soooooo love the colors! They're vibrant, catchy, and totally brighten up anyone's day! Plus, I think the hues are really made for Tropical gals, because they perfectly suit tropical complexion. Know what I mean? Well, I'm medium-skinned and that's a big factor in my nail color choices. Most often, bright-colored polishes don't suit me well; but these colors impressively do! Really LOVEEEEET! :)

Here are some photos of us enjoying our nails :)

Can you feel the la-la-love? We really love ze coloooooors! Thanks, Caronia! :)
What are you waiting for? Grab your own Caronia Polish from the new Tropical Doll Collection now!

More photos will be posted soon as I blog about our T.G.I.F. bonding!

Minions On My Nails. BANANAAAA!

MyEm0.Com
Hello, sweeties!

I've been M.I.A. lately because of school; I'm trying to control and discipline myself especially when it comes to Facebook-ing and basically anything in the cyberworld. You know how it is, guys, right? The web is a black hole that sucks you deep in -- without you even noticing. So yeah, I super-minimize my internet use on weekdays and just catch-up on weekends.

Anyways, that's the reason why this post is already two weeks late. I made & wore this nail design two weeks ago when I was kind of in a need to relieve some stress and thinkings. I was originally planning to try to make a creative and uncommon French Manicure, but I decided to do this instead.

Come and sing with me now. 5-6-7-8!
BA-BA-BA BA-BANANA,  BA-BA-BA BA-BANANA
BANANAAAAAAAAAA! POTATO-NAAAAAAAA!

They really served their purpose -- relieve me of stress. Everytime I look at my nails, there would be this certain explosion of fun and happiness, so it really helped. Plus, I got a lot of compliments from my friends and even from strangers! Guards, fastfood cashier, registration assistants, and basically just anyone! I bet my nails loved all the attention they got. :))

Moving on, I know this is just tooooo cute so I would like to share with you a quick tutorial on how to do it. Sorry if I couldn't manage to do video tutorials yet, but I'd try to make time for it, okay? ;)

STEP 1:
Clean your nails & shape them any way you want. I shaped my nails squoval since I thought it would be best for the minions' body. Afterwards, apply a base coat/nail hardener (NOTE: this is important to avoid having your nails stained, and of course so you could protect them).

STEP 2:
Apply a bright lemon yellow polish. I, however, didn't have such color of nail polish so I just used an acrylic paint of the same hue.

STEP 3:
Paint the tips with blue polish or acrylic paint, and then stripe some black paint across (to serve as the goggles' strap).

STEP 4:
Draw the details! :D
Sorry if I wasn't able to take photos of the nitty-gritty details -- I FORGOT! I was so focused on drawing 'em, that's why. I was just using a standard watercolor brush because I don't have nail art brushes yet, so it's really hard especially when drawing small details such as the teeth and stuff.

STEP 5:
FLAUNT YOUR NAILS AND MAKE EVERYONE SING BANANAAA! :)
Here are more photos (because I just couldn't get enough of 'em):

Like it? :)
Let me know when you get to try your own Minions Nails, okay?

Manicure Mondays: UNION JACK (with a girly twist!)

Hello, sweeties! I'm back with a Nail Art Post!
Still can't get enough of my new BornPrettyStore Acrylic Colour Set, so I tried out a new nail design immediately after removing my Flores de Mayo-inspired Nails! I wanted some fun & girly blues and pinks, and this is what I came up with.

Here are some photos while I was doing the nail design:

So what do you think? ;)
Btw, classes are soon to resume so I hope I can still find time to make nail arts and post them here. Heehee.

Love lots,
